Filipe Feijão spent several periods at Córtex Frontal between April and July 2026. From Arraiolos, he travelled across the Alentejo Central to get to know the clay of the region, its soils, the montado landscape and its megalithic remains.
He visited archaeological sites, potters in São Pedro do Corval, Redondo, Vidigueira and Beringel, and talha wine producers. In the Córtex Frontal studio he made his first ceramic pieces, still unfired.
Exhibition
The results will be shown in an exhibition in Arraiolos in 2027.
About the project
Terra, Matéria Crua is a project about the soils of Arraiolos, Gondomar, the Azores and Istanbul, seen as an archive of time, culture and ecology. It brings together artists, geologists, craftspeople and the public in each place, with exhibitions in the Azores, Arraiolos and Gondomar and an international meeting at Lugar do Desenho, Fundação Júlio Resende.
