Neste workshop, os participantes irão aprender uma técnica que pode ser aplicada a uma variedade de superfícies de malha para personalização e customização, através da ilustração com fio. Cada participante receberá uma tela de malha pré-fabricada para utilizar como base da sua ilustração. Os participantes poderão criar um desenho próprio ou escolher entre uma seleção de imagens fornecidas. Este workshop é um convite para explorar as possibilidades das malhas. Todos os materiais necessários serão fornecidos durante o workshop. Haverá também uma breve demonstração da máquina de tricotar para os participantes interessados na sua função básica.

In this workshop, participants will learn a technique that can be applied to a variety of mesh surfaces for personalization and customization through illustration with thread. Each participant will receive a pre-made mesh canvas to use as the base for their illustration. They may create their own design or choose from a selection of provided images. This workshop is an invitation to explore the creative possibilities of mesh. All necessary materials will be provided during the session. There will also be a brief demonstration of the knitting machine for participants interested in its basic function.

SHANY M. COHEN

Shany M. Cohen é uma designer e artista têxtil nascida em Nova Iorque, que trabalha com malhas e fibras naturais, sobretudo lã, linho e algodão. O seu trabalho assenta em temas de pertença, transições culturais e memória ancestral, recorrendo a técnicas de tricotagem, feltragem e manipulação de tecidos. Shany valoriza os métodos artesanais tradicionais, deixando que os ambientes naturais inspirem as suas escolhas de materiais e processos. É licenciada em Design de Moda pela Parsons School of Design e mestre em Gestão e Inovação em Design pela Bezalel Academy of Art.

Shany M Cohen is a New York-born designer and textile artist working with knits and natural fibers, primarily wool, linen, and cotton. Her work is rooted in themes of belonging, cultural transitions, and ancestral memory, utilizing knitting, felting, and fabric manipulation techniques. Shany honors traditional craft methods, allowing natural surroundings to inform her material choices and processes. She holds a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design and a Master’s in Design Management & Innovation from Bezalel Academy of Art.
