Nesta oficina vamos aprender a preparar e tecer fibras vegetais disponíveis em Portugal, como o vime e a typha. Partindo da construção de um pequeno cesto, iremos explorar as possibilidades estruturais desta técnica ancestral.

In this workshop we will learn how to prepare and weave plant fibres available in Portugal, such as willow and typha. Starting from the construction of a small basket, we will explore the structural possibilities of this ancestral technique.

TERESA DA CRUZ ALMEIDA
Teresa da Cruz Almeida estudou artes visuais no secundário e construiu um percurso diversificado, passando pela restauração, fotografia, teatro e fundição artística em bronze. Em 2020, dedicou-se à cestaria, abraçando um ritmo mais pausado e explorando materiais simples, abundantes e muitas vezes negligenciados, como vime, chaísso, tabua, bunho, yuca, palmas, casca de eucalipto, urtigas e lã de ovelha. Vive e trabalha em Montemor-o-Novo.

Teresa da Cruz Almeida studied visual arts in secondary school and developed a diverse career spanning restoration, photography, theatre, and artistic bronze casting. In 2020, she dedicated herself to basketry, embracing a slower pace and exploring simple, abundant, and often overlooked materials such as willow, chaísso, tabua, bulrush, yucca, palm leaves, eucalyptus bark, nettles, and sheep’s wool. She lives and works in Montemor-o-Novo.
